This 12-month programme consists of a taught course, running from September to June, and a dissertation which is completed between June and September.

Stage 1: The Foundation and Consolidation Stage

  • Market Structure and Trading Systems
  • Principles of Finance
  • Quantitative Methods
  • Research Methods in Finance
 

Stage 2: The Specialisation Stage

Core modules

  • Empirical Finance
  • Research Topics in Finance

At least one of the following two modules:

  • Corporate Finance
  • Financial Derivatives

and at most one other module from the following list:

  • Asset Pricing
  • International Banking
  • International Finance
  • Investment and Electronic Trading
  • Marketing of Financial Services
  • Mathematical Finance

Stage 3: The Dissertation

From June to September you will work on an individual, research-based dissertation under the individual supervision of a faculty member. Support is given from the outset in preparing for the dissertation via a range of first- and second-semester modules, including Research Methods in Finance and Research Topics in Finance.
