This pathway is designed for professionals in health, social care, education and local authorities who wish to develop their knowledge and expertise in the areas of health promotion and public health; the aims are: To develop critical thought and analysis in relation to health promotion and public health theory and practice; to enhance knowledge and understanding of important contemporary issues in health promotion and public health, necessary for higher levels of client and community centred practice and inter-professional working; to promote inter-personal, communication and practical skills in relation to current and future work roles in health promotion and public health; emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining a critical appreciation of current developments in health and social policy, and the contributions of research and evaluation in guiding the development of health promotion and public health practice; opportunities are also provided for participants to examine, reflect upon and develop their theoretical knowledge and practice in relation to current health promotion and public health initiatives, strategies and developments.
