The occupational therapy pathway has a strong focus on occupation and the importance this plays in health and well being; this underpins the theoretical and practical aspects of the programme in order to create a strong identity for the students; occupational therapy lecturers combine traditional teaching methods such as lectures, seminars and workshops with innovative delivery styles, for example mini-conferences with service users, video projects, virtual learning environments, problem-based learning, student-led sessions and game-based learning; practice placements are integrated into each semester and reflective practice is actively encouraged; the course includes 1100 hours of field work placement; it is assessed by course work, field work and examination; successful completion of all academic work and fieldwork is required for State Registration.
