The course progressively leads the student to gain the standards required of a newly qualified teacher by structured work in school each year; in the 1st year, there is a general introduction to all curriculum areas; during the 2nd year, the student is able to undertake more specialist study in a specific subject; subjects offered may include: language; humanities; creative arts; science and advanced study of early years; the 3rd year provides an opportunity for additional study in an area of special interest linked with a placement; possible choices include: special educational needs; drama in education; international dimensions to education and other studies associated with primary education; the placement associated with these choices allows for experience of education in a variety of settings including international visits.
