The course helps students to become a visually intelligent and visually literate communicator; it develops the student's ability to solve complex visual design problems and appreciate cultural, environmental, political and socio-economic contexts; students study all aspects of design related to visual communication during level 1 irrespective of their intended subject route; the options in level 1 and level 2 ensure continuing debate and dialogue across subject routes; students engage in interdisciplinary work throughout the course and particularly in level 3.;the syllabus has been planned to provide students with a cosmopolitan visual experience; the photographic subject route places great emphasis on the contextualisation of their ideas within a given application (fine art; fashion; commercial etc;) an understanding of how and why images work in given contexts is delivered through projects and seminars; given that technological advances have created more opportunities for visually literate and creative individuals students are expected to push at the limits of creative photographic practice.
