Year 1: Semester 1 is foundational with core modules in fiction, drama, language and cultural study; students confirm named route ways in time for semester 2 of the 1st year, when single Honours English literature students take modules in poetry, the Victorians and Post-World War 2 fiction and film. Year 2: The year is divided between core modules in key texts/periods and options; modules include a core module in literary perspectives and methods and early English drama, romantic century and aspects of modernism. Year 3: Offers a wide variety of options, including the opportunity to complete an independent study project which may include some creative writing; options include: Dryden, Pope and Johnson, Shakespeare studies, critical thought, film, Wordsworth and the Lake School, Gothic, postmodernism, romantic America, Henry James, Chaucer, the fantastic, Joyce and Beckett.
