Australian National University, Foundation Diploma, Diploma of Liberal Studies

Students will complete 2 semesters of 18 weeks each, and will be required to complete 48 units of study. The following are the compulsory courses:

  • ANUC1101 - Professional Communication
  • ANUC1102 - Culture and Human Diversity: Introducing Anthropology
  • ANUC1104 - Introduction to Social Psychology
  • ANUC1105 - Introduction to International Relations: Foundations and Concepts
  • ANUC1106 - Indigenous Peoples, Populations and Communities
  • ANUC1107 - Logic and Critical Reasoning
  • ANUC1108 - Terror to Terrorism: A History
  • ANUC1109 - Close Encounters: How to Read Literature

Class sizes are kept around 20 students which maximises your contact with teaching staff.

at Year One and may apply for credit for courses undertaken in their Diploma.

All ANU diplomas are recognised Australian tertiary qualifications and are therefore nationally and internationally recognised and are valid to use to apply for entry to other institutions.

Location

ANU is located in Acton on the north side of Lake Burley Griffin, just west of the city centre.


Arriving by plane:

ANU is a 15 minute drive from Canberra Airport. An Airport Express bus to and from the city operates regularly throughout the day. Taxis are available at all times of the day.


Arriving by train or coach:

Canberra has a direct rail service from Sydney and a combined rail and bus service from Melbourne. Coaches arrive in the city centre, a short taxi journey from ANU.
