After a broad-based common first year you then choose two subject areas in which you wish to concentrate your studies. This common first year allows you the flexibility to change your degree course if you wish.


For the second and final years you are asked to select two subject areas on which to concentrate your study. At least one of these must be International Management or International Communications for Business.

  • Principles of Operations Management
  • Quantitative Techniques


Year 2

  • Business Policy
  • Strategic Finance
  • Business Game
  • Business, Government & Society


International Management modules:

  • International Business Environment
  • International Business Economics
  • Emerging and Transition Economies


International Communication for Business modules:

  • Intercultural Business Communication
  • Discourse Analysis for Business
  • Beginner’s Mandarin, or beginner's or advanced level French, German, Spanish


If only one of these is chosen then students can select one other subject stream from the following list:

  • Information Systems

Year 3
You will spend this year in professional placement or you may choose to take up an international study opportunity at one of our partner institutions. This year is compulsory for all UK and EU students. For International Business and Management students work placements must normally take place outside of the UK.

International Communication for Business modules:

  • Intercultural presentations
  • Management styles in writing
  • A language – either the same as chosen in the second year or a new language.
