Working in the studios under the guidance of tutors, students have the opportunity to study a range of different approaches and techniques, which typically include: drawing using different media; mixed media; sculpture; painting; three-dimensional work; printmaking; photography; time based; this is supported by: historical and contextual studies; live projects, exhibitions and commissions; as the course progresses, students are encouraged to work more independently, to develop their own approach and specialise in an area which may be indicated by their personal development and preferred specialist interest; the course provides a hands-on approach with lots of studio work, supporting art history lectures, seminars and individual tutorials.
