Year 2 develops students understanding of managing economics, entrepreneurial creativity, operations and project management and systems for information management. Year 3 will give students a thorough grounding of strategic management together with modules taken from core options including; Organisational Theory, Contemporary Enterprise, Relationship Marketing Management in Practice and Contemporary Issues in International Business. Students can also select one module from a choice of five business areas, Marketing, Human Resources, Accounting, Enterprise and International Business. Social Policy Year 1 offers a sound introduction to social policy, and to critical thinking. The development of the post war welfare state and related social change provide the basis of the first part of the year followed by a consideration of the theories and concepts that underpin the study of social policy; theories of fairness, equity and social justice. Year 2 builds on the knowledge gained in year 1 and looks at policy responses to social issues such as poverty, social exclusion, crime, ill health, social care and how these are linked to the economy. Year 2 also provides opportunities to develop research skills essential to Year 3 study. Year 3 focuses on the application of theory and practice in social policy, looking at the way that welfare is managed and the joined up nature of policy implementation.
