This programme enables the student to graduate with a degree and teaching qualification for primary; the degree route is recognised as a qualification for teaching in the appropriate sectors in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and elsewhere in the world; successful completion of the programme enables provisional registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland and entry to the probationary scheme; the student follows a programme of 8 semesters which leads to an Honours degree in professional education, along with 6 semesters in modern languages; the student studies a language module over a 3-year period during these semesters; the student may also have to complete an Honours dissertation on an aspect of teaching languages at a primary level; the student may be required to undertake a residency abroad.
