The Program in Near Eastern studies is an interdepartmental program concerned mainly with social science approaches to the study of the modern Near East. For students contemplating careers in government, business, or journalism, where a Ph.D. is not a requirement, the Program in Near Eastern Studies offers a two-year degree curriculum leading to the M.A. as a final degree. This special program is governed by an Interdepartmental Committee, and enables a limited number of students to take a multidisciplinary course of study under the guidance of the director of the program leading to the degree of Master of Arts in Near Eastern studies.
