All joint Honours degrees may also be studied as major/minor combinations; students should ensure the correct UCAS code is used for the specific combination they require; accounting and finance encompasses a wide range of activities including recording and reporting financial performance, monitoring and controlling activity and resources as well as helping to make sound operational and strategic decisions; there are several specialisations such as financial services, auditing, taxation, risk management, and information systems; the course has an international focus; students of English engage with texts through extensive reading, study of literature's intellectual and historical context and seminar discussion and group projects in which ideas can be shared and developed; they write in a variety of forms, from formal essays to creative writing in some options; the study of many kinds of text from different eras helps to develop the students' own command of written and spoken English; the course is designed around the major periods of literary study and important areas of literary theory; students are also free to choose from a variety of options; subjects covered include key modules in literary historical periods; optional modules of specific genres or studies focusing on place or time for example: American writing; gothic writing; women’s writing; theories of literature; children’s literature; options in different kinds of creative writing, and opportunities to engage creatively with literary texts.
