The overall aim of this programme is to equip students with all the knowledge, skills and attributes that students need to meet the challenges of being a nurse in the changing context of health care and to succeed in the modern NHS; the curriculum focuses on a wide range of health environments, and enables students to acquire clinical skills in a systematic fashion; during year 1, students follow the common foundation programme, getting to grips with concepts of health and wellness, physical and mental illness, and the healthcare needs of individuals and families; the modules students take include foundations of nursing practice, introduction to clinical skills, physiology for health, behavioural and social sciences for health, and communication and therapeutic relationships; years 2 and 3 are geared towards helping you acquire the knowledge and skills required to practise adult nursing; throughout the 3 years, students gain extensive clinical experience in hospital wards, clinics, accident and emergency and high-dependency settings.
