The main topics studied include aerodynamics, aerostructures, flight dynamics and control, propulsion systems, communications, avionics and aircraft materials; the programmes include a 3-day flight test course in a Jetstream aircraft; an approved course in workshop practice, a 1-week icebreaker group project as well as a 2-week team project to design, build and fly a small aircraft; exploring the flight characteristics of the UH-60 Blackhawk and Lynx helicopters in the advanced moving-base flight simulator as part of the rotorcraft flight module; if taking the four-year programme, students spend the third year of study on an industrial placement.

Location

Liverpool John Lennon Airport is around eight miles from the city centre and offers flights from various parts of Europe. A low-cost bus service from the airport to the city centre is operated by Merseytravel. Manchester Airport, which is around 45 minutes from Liverpool, is the destination for flights from around the world. There is a direct rail link and coach service from the airport to Liverpool City Centre.
