The University of Leeds International Foundation Year (IFY) forms the first year of a suite of integrated programmes intended for those international students who have the potential and motivation to succeed, but who do not yet have the formal qualifications required for entry to level 1 of a University of Leeds undergraduate degree programme.
The IFY begins in September each year - the next intake is on September 17th 2014. There is no intake in January.
The integrated programmes currently available are:
Arts with Integrated IFY (including “Cinema and Photography”, “Criminal Justice and Criminology”, “Cultural Studies”, “English, Language and Education”, “English Literature”, “History of Art”, “International Development”, “International Relations”, “Law”, “New Media”, “Politics”, “Sociology”) – 4 years
Business with Integrated IFY – 4 years
Design with Integrated IFY – 4 years
Engineering with Integrated IFY – 4 years for Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) or 5 years for Integrated Master of Engineering (MEng,BEng)
Joint Honours with Integrated IFY – 4 years
Science with Integrated IFY – 4 years
These integrated programmes are some of the most successful and longest running courses of their type in the UK. Since their first intakes in September 1989 they have attracted more than 2000 students from over 80 countries with the vast majority of these successfully obtaining a University of Leeds undergraduate degree. Some students have also continued to Masters and PhD degree programmes.
The University campus is a short 20 minute walk from Leeds city station. Leeds station connects us with all major UK cities and has a fast and efficient London service.
Leeds is served by two major airports: Leeds Bradford and Manchester. Regular flights are available from a huge number of European and International cities. Leeds Bradford airport is approximately 20 minutes away from the University by taxi.
