Central to this programme is the study of theories and practices of divination and the cosmologies within which they arise; the study of divination systems (astrology, tarot, I Ching) is complemented by an in-depth survey of the nature of the symbolic image and the human act of interpretation; both historical and modern theories are considered through a variety of methods including the reading and studying of primary texts and images, and comparative and analytical studies such as traditional metaphysics and philosophy, religious and magical forms, contemporary psychological theories and sceptical critiques; integral to the Master's is a learning journal in which students record their personal reflections on course material.
