The University of Exeter has one of the best all round Politics departments in the UK offering an exciting range of programmes at the Streatham Campus in Exeter and at our Cornwall Campus near Falmouth. The Politics department was ranked 6th in the 2008 RAE for world-leading research1 and Top 10 for Politics in The Times Good University Guide 2013. One of the members of the politics department, Professor Sir Steve Smith, is the University’s Vice-Chancellor. He is co-editor of The Globalisation of World Politics which has become the standard text in the field and is ‘the politics bestseller’ (The Independent).
The MA International Relations equips you with the tools to investigate the modern world and understand the forces which have shaped global politics.

At its core, the programme provides solid foundations in International Relations theory and will provide you with an understanding of how states, regions and multinational organisations have developed and interact. You will The course provides a foundation in international relations theory; a rigorous framework for the critical analysis and an understanding of key issues and movements in contemporary world politics; core curriculum explores key concepts and principal mainstream approaches to international relations including the realist, English School and neoliberalist accounts; examines the contested meanings of ‘power', ‘institutions' and ‘world politics' from a wide range of theoretical perspectives including Marxist, feminist, green, constructivist and poststructuralist.investigate the important questions relevant to world politics such as what are weak states, how do thThe course provides a foundation in international relations theory; a rigorous framework for the critical analysis and an understanding of key issues and movements in contemporary world politics; core curriculum explores key concepts and principal mainstream approaches to international relations including the realist, English School and neoliberalist accounts; examines the contested meanings of ‘power', ‘institutions' and ‘world politics' from a wide range of theoretical perspectives including Marxist, feminist, green, constructivist and poststructuralist.ey become this way, and why do states go to war?

Location

Exeter is a wonderful place to live and study with a variety of options for entertainment. The city centre of Exeter is a cultural hub for the South West of England, and is around twenty minutes walk from Streatham campus. As well as the shopping, cultural and historical attractions of the city, there are many cafes, restaurants, bars and clubs.
