Our MA specialism in Modern History is a rigorous, exciting and broad-ranging programme that allows you to explore your own research interests. It gives you the opportunity to work with one of the largest groups of modern historians in the UK. The breadth of our academic expertise means we can offer you ample scope to pursue comparative approaches, for instance around themes of nationalism and national identity, collective memory, gender, political mobilisation, violence and genocide.
This programme aims to equip you with the advanced skills and intensive subject knowledge you need to proceed to further research in the academic world, or to enter other fields such as government, the publishing sector, law and journalism.
