The BSc Computing Science degree programme prepares you for working with rapidly changing technology, giving you a thorough understanding of the theory and practice of computing science.

The additional teaching experience you will receive on this integrated syllabus will also put you in a great position to progress onto the UEA PGCE (Initial Teacher Training) course when you graduate, without any obligation to continue your studies.

The BSc Computer Science degree programme is designed to offer a broad selection of modules reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of computing. Modules are chosen according to your preferences, which creates a unique and personalised academic experience. You will have the opportunity to engage with a wide range of computing subjects, from artificial intelligence to embedded systems. The majority of learning will take place in laboratories, lectures, seminars and group projects.

As part of this integrated programme you will undertake two compulsory teaching practice modules, which will include a guaranteed school placement at the end of your first year. You will receive additional teaching experience through fortnightly classroom observation placements, as well as in seminars and workshops delivered by our School of Education and Lifelong Learning – one of the top teacher training institutions in England, with more than 30 years’ experience.

Location

The University of East Anglia is based in the vibrant city of Norwich, located in the east of England. The city is less than two hours by train from London and is a unique blend of historic English architecture and modern design, which creates a dynamic and unforgettable atmosphere.
