Looking at the contemporary world, two things are apparent. The first is that our world is increasingly one shaped by international politics and by the global connections between nations. The second is that the current state of our world and our societies is the product not of the moment, but of events and processes that have occurred over time.

The BA in International Relations and Modern History enables you to make sense of this new global order, and how it has developed throughout recent history. You will be able to explore how these two disciplines relate to one another and how they are intrinsically linked, allowing you to gain a fascinating perspective on international relations.

The two disciplines of International Relations and History are taught across two Schools at the University, both of which are well known for the quality of their teaching and research over many years.

During the course you will have the opportunity to take part in study trips, internships and placements in Britain and Europe (see our Careers and Employability pages), as well as having the option of a semester abroad in your second year (see the Study Abroad section below).
