Study mode Start date Duration
Full-time n/a years: 3
This course supports contemporary photographic practice made through the documentary process, or studio-based concepts; it encourages students to discuss their ideas, to have a passion for their work and to be interested in communicating with people. Year 1: This year gives students a solid preparation for working independently as a photographer; students study modules in practice and theory, and work on a range of projects to help develop their own visual ideas; they are encouraged to work experimentally on location and in the studio; workshops in camera and lighting techniques, Adobe Photoshop and printing processes give students the technical background they need. Year 2: students integrate their practice with critical thinking and are able to work on self-initiated projects; modules in professional practice and critical discourse help students identify the direction they follow; they exhibit their work in groups and complete work experience with contemporary practitioners. Year 3: students focus on an individually negotiated major project resulting in a final exhibition that includes the production of a professional folio; students can use this to promote their work and launch their career.
