The university has formal contracting arrangements with 10 NHS Trusts: Brighton Health Care, South Downs Health, Eastbourne Hospitals, Eastbourne and County, Hastings and Rother, Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells, Worthing and Southlands Hospitals, Worthing Priority Care, Queen Victoria Hospital and Mid-Sussex; all courses are credit-rated and the institute has a well-established mechanism for the accreditation of prior and experiential learning (APEL) which is supported by the local NHS Trust; a number of generic modules are common to all the courses; each course also has a number of specific modules, which must be completed to meet the core requirements of a particular pathway.
