This course addresses the latest developments in digital media; there is an emphasis on developing a variety of discipline-specific skills; it gives an insight into the ways in which media work, from the origins of the Press, through the rise of radio and television, to the present anarchy of the Internet and mobile communications; the course combines practical experience of both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional computer animation with core media studies content; this course can be studied over 4 years to incorporate an optional placement year in supervised practice taken between stages 2 and 3; taking an extramural year enables students to extend and apply their learning and gain practical experience highly valued by employers; it also gives them the opportunity to acquire the Diploma of Industrial Studies.
