This course is designed for students who wish to develop their analytical skills and practical knowledge of a full range of audio-visual media disciplines, working in the digital domain; on this course students study critical theory of a variety of digital media types, including: 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional computer animation, multimedia, television and audio production; students are able to analyse the social, cultural and economic context and content of media artefacts, providing them with the skills necessary to appraise their own and others work and give them the background to think creatively across different media types; the course also provides students with a wide range of practical skills and technical competences giving them a distinct advantage when competing for jobs; this course can be studied over 4 years to incorporate an optional placement year in supervised practice taken between stages 2 and 3; taking an extramural year enables students to extend and apply their learning, gain practical experience highly valued by employers, and also gives them the opportunity to acquire the Diploma of Industrial Studies.
