This course has a broad ranging curriculum; there are 4 main areas: historical aspects of education looks at the changing philosophies of education, the development of the system and the specific purposes that education has served in Britain since the start of the industrial revolution.; social aspects of education looks at issues such as gender, class, ethnicity and educational attainment; political aspects of education looks at the influences on and formation of education policy, the various ways in which ideologies effect education and the control of education; economic aspects of education looks at the value of education, the financing of education and the influence of market forces.
