Students negotiate an individual programme of study that develops creative and technical skills supported by theoretical study and critical analysis; the Honours year encourages students to challenge conventions and break down barriers in textile design whilst addressing the changing needs of industry and commercial outlets; international trips and exhibition visits are an integral aspect of the course; individually negotiated design briefs may be set by external agencies such as design companies; textile practitioners or national competitions, and promote the use of print; computer aided design; surface pattern; stitch, craft; fashion; embellishment and manipulation in whatever combination suits the student and the client; this final top-up year is the opportunity to refine skills and add to a creative portfolio whilst maintaining individuality and achieving direction; as study is self led; each brief is open to innovative possibilities in order to achieve fantastic outcomes.
