Students can expect to be introduced to a diverse range of creative techniques and technical skills, supported by a developing awareness of professional and historical contexts; the project-based work offers creative challenges, but also a growing ability and self-confidence to develop and resolve challenging interior solutions; all modules combine practice with theory, and include a high level of digital technology in the form of, for example, computer-aided design (CAD) drawing and 3-dimensional design of architectural environments; the 1st year introduces the skills and understanding necessary to develop as a designer; the 2nd year encourages experimentation in a broader range of design disciplines, developing a deeper understanding of the contexts and principles involved; the 3rd year provides the freedom and responsibility for students to pursue their own individual directions through design proposals that ultimately develop in to a professional portfolio of work; students are encouraged to investigate and liaise with all areas of the interior design industry in order to contextualise study and promote future career aspirations; there are opportunities for internships, industry-based visits and projects which can be credited as part of students’ studies; application deadline: March 2010.
