This is a combined Honours course which allows the student to study 2 subjects; the early childhood studies course offers a fascinating and stimulating academic study of children and early childhood (0-8 years); based on a multidisciplinary approach, the course is informed by a range of perspectives including education, health, psychology, sociology and social policy; the student is encouraged to maintain regular contact with young children through voluntary and/or paid employment; the early childhood practice and practitioner options modules offer students the opportunity to work alongside professional practitioners and gain practical competences mapped to national occupational standards; psychology is the science of mind and behaviour and studies both individuals and groups; a range of normal and abnormal human behaviours are studied on the course.
