This degree enables students to produce highly original and innovative work; the course gives students an opportunity to work across a variety of disciplines including textiles (knit, print, stitch), ceramics, and 3-dimensional design (wood, metal, plastics), enabling the development of new ideas through visual research and materials exploration; in the 2nd and 3rd years students have the option to develop an individual specialism or follow a multidisciplinary approach; students are encouraged to enter national student competitions and exhibit their work locally, regionally and nationally; regular field trips are organised to London and European cities such as Barcelona, Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin; there is plenty of opportunity for students to gain experience working in the design related industries alongside their studies; previous students have worked in design studios, crafts workshops, schools and colleges, arts administration and galleries; application deadline: March 2010.
