The degree aims to provide specialist, advanced technical skills in the areas of data mining, information retrieval, and e-commerce; students become specialist practitioners in the specification, design and implementation of advanced information systems and learn to access, critically appraise, apply and disseminate state-of-the-art knowledge in specialist topics covered; it provides sound basis for further research and/or professional development; project module is of particular value to employers as evidence of the ability to produce high quality work of an advanced technical standard to deadline and to a high standard of presentation; on joining the course students have the opportunity to apply for an industrial placement which runs for up to 45 weeks; those taking this route are encouraged to complete their project while on placement where possible; alternatively they return to complete the MSc project after placement.

Location

Robert Gordon University is located in the historic city of Aberdeen, on Scotland's north-east coast. Aberdeen is Scotland’s third largest city, with a multicultural population of 225,000, including 25,000 students. It is known as 'the oil capital of Europe', and as such has a thriving economy, and is rich in culture and things to do.


The City is just over two hours from Edinburgh and Glasgow by rail and just over an hour by air from Amsterdam, London and Paris.
