The MSc International Events Management welcomes students from a range of academic subject areas as well as those with some events management experience who wish to broaden their expertise. By working closely with our Research Centre for International Tourism and Events Management, you will explore recent research and the challenges within the sector to help develop your potential to become a leader within the events sector.

You will gain a strong foundation in events management and apply theory to practice by engaging in practical events management. Through live case-studies and being immersed in real event design and delivery, you will experience an innovative and creative approach to your learning.  

Through continuous Professional Development you will develop core skills essential to increase your employability. You have the opportunity to complete an 8-month paid work placement in an events marketing role or you can complete a dissertation or client project. You will gain a wealth of knowledge in contemporary events management including: 

  • event design, planning, delivery and working with key stakeholders
  • the core principles of events marketing including digital marketing and marketing analysis
  • finance and accounting for business
  • leadership in an international context
  • develop decision-making skills to devise marketing plans and communications.

Career prospects

Graduates of the University are employed in roles throughout the world, including jobs in media, digital, brand and communications agencies, and in-house marketing and events management positions in areas as diverse as fast moving consumer goods, retail, hospitality, travel, publishing, manufacturing and conference and exhibitions. Current employers include Johnson & Johnson, Hitachi, DK, Avis and PWC, as well as a number of small and medium sized ‘digital’ agencies.

Location

The campuses are filled with bars, cafes, and food outlets so there are plenty of places for you to meet up with friends, have fun and socialise.

We even organise regular cultural events, like theatre visits and traditional dance evenings, to help you experience life in the UK. Our events are a great way of meeting other students from across the University.

Getting you from A to B quickly and cheaply, the Brookes Bus service links all three campuses with the halls of residence, Oxford city centre and local supermarkets. Free Brookes bus passes are available to students.
