Project management is a highly valuable skill, involving the coordination of multiple work streams to deliver projects on time, within budget and resource constraints, according to stakeholder expectations. To be a successful project manager you need to be a strong communicator, with the leadership skills to inspire widespread engagement with the project.

Northumbria’s MSc is accredited by multiple professional bodies, including the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), giving our graduates immediate prestige in the industry.

Key study areas include risk and value management, project economics, project strategies, sustainable project management, and partnership and collaboration. You will develop your knowledge within the context of project environments, highlighting the importance of people and project teams in achieving success. Live industry projects play a key role and have involved clients such as Volvo, Airbus, Balfour Beatty, the NHS and Google.

The assessment is a combination of examinations, assignments and presentations, and you will also undertake a piece of analytical, reflective academic research leading to the production of an original 20,000-word Master’s dissertation.

Project management skills are transferable across multiple industries making graduates of this course highly desired by a wide range of organisations.
