This course is intended for practitioners working with young children (birth to 8); it offers breadth and depth in early years education, care and provision; students study the diversity of provision for young children, examine the history of early years education and care, child development and explore national and international approaches to early years; the importance of play to support learning and teaching, the role of the practitioner, working as a team, and the significance of working with parents and other agencies are also studied; contemporary issues in early years, and how these impact on practice and policy, are also addressed.
