In year 1 you will begin to develop a body of work and a curiosity about present day visual art; this can be challenging, so the emphasis is not on producing fully resolved work but on developing good habits of critical enquiry, exploring the possibilities of the chosen medium, and testing ideas in the practical domain; in year 2 students develop their work with guidance, support and critical input from staff; greater critical awareness develops and the ability to articulate their work aims in reference to current debate is encouraged; year 3 students produce work related to the disciplines of painting, sculpture and printmaking within the ‘expanded field’ that constitutes contemporary art practice; this work should be creative, informed and coherent.
