This module is part of the post-qualification framework and is ideally suited for health and social care professionals who are seeking to explore legal and ethical dimensions in health and social care as part of their ongoing professional development; it enables professionals to gain a critical understanding and applied appreciation of health-related law and ethics, whilst exploring its application and affect on practice; an overview of contemporary legal thinking will be offered; the module also explores the values held by professionals and society, as the language of rights and responsibilities increasingly influences practice; it aims to raise overall professional capacity and help students to engage more effectively with moral dilemmas in practice; at the end of this module students are better equipped to analyse evidence, articulate complex arguments in written and verbal forms, and defend professional decision making.
