Students study and develop skills in animal management which includes, for example: Animal behaviour; ecology; nutrition; anatomy and physiology of animals; environmental education; health and welfare of animals as well as an investigative project which can be undertaken at an animal collection centre open to the general public; the course includes field trips and visits to various centres in order to study animals in a variety of environments; it encourages students to carry out independent research with tutorial support; the course combines academic and practical study in laboratory and field environments.
