This course offers a pathway for those who wish to develop their career in working with children and young people in education and/or care settings, and for those interested in pursuing a career in these sectors; the course enables children and young people practitioners and professionals, children’s service employees, teaching assistants, play workers and interested students to have access to a higher level qualification that is directly relevant to day to day employment and experience in these sectors on a full or part-time basis; this course is designed to provide the student with the opportunity to gain a level 4 qualification (level 5 in National Occupational Standards) in working with children and young people from ages 0-16 years in a variety of settings which include: schools; children’s centres; extended schools; pre-school and care provision in both public, private, voluntary and independent organisations; the course involves regular personal study outside the class.
