If you have an interest in current financial and accounting issues but are not yet sure which area you would like to specialise in, this course allows you to look at each course before making any final decisions.

Why choose this course?

This course gives you the option to specialise in accountancy as well as finance, and you could benefit from many of the exemptions that are available from the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales (ICAEW) with whom we are also a partner in learning. The exemptions will be available depending on the choices you make through your studies. This could provide a great first step in starting your accountancy career and will save you time and money when looking to complete your professional qualification after you graduate. If you choose the finance route there are a wide range of career opportunities for young ambitious graduates looking to work in finance.

If you choose this course you will benefit from:

  • links with employers and professional accounting bodies who deliver sessions with students in commercial awareness, key skills for getting a job and working in the accountancy and finance professions;
  • placement opportunities to apply for in both the private and public sector. Previously this has included companies such as Tesco, the NHS, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), IBM, Toys R Us, as well as a large number of small to medium sized accountancy firms and organisations;
  • opportunity for hands-on experience of using market leading accounting and business software packages, from SAGE for the small and medium enterprises, to SAP for the international companies;
  • studying with Coventry Business School which is currently a member of European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) and the Association of Business Schools (ABS);
  • access to academic staff with relevant professional backgrounds and industry experience, who bring this into their teaching.

How will this course enhance my career prospects?
