This course has been designed to equip students with the management skills required to take on the challenges of working in this diverse and exciting cultural sector; business; marketing and administrational skills are underpinned with a detailed knowledge and understanding of the unique nature of managing the careers and projects of creative people; students learn learn how to undertake a successful career in the music and arts industries; in addition to the management and business content in the programmes; students also explore the social and cultural factors that impact upon the production and consumption of popular music and the arts; the importance of intellectual property management and a solid understanding of contractual negotiations ensure that students know how a real living can be made from popular music and the arts.
