The School of Law is an internationally recognised centre for critical and interdisciplinary legal research. It provides an exciting and innovative environment for a wide range of research with a strong theoretical and policy focus. The School is the home of Birkbeck Law Press and publishes Law and Critique: The International Journal of Critical Legal Thought. Students will benefit from sophisticated learning resources and the expert direction of high-level research academics.
A personal supervisor will help you choose your best path through a wide range of options. If you so wish, your personal supervisor will also provide you with support if you undertake a research dissertation option.
Students will attend one–two evenings a week part-time or two–three evenings a week full-time. Flexible evening teaching is ideal if a student wants to combine studying with working during the day. Some options are offered as intensive weekend courses.
The course is designed to give you the maximum flexibility in your choice of modules, meaning you can design a course which best suits your interests and strengths. Graduates from this course will go on to work in the Legal Profession, government and the public sector, or as journalists.
