Year 1: Introduces the underlying principles of digital computers, explores systems analysis, and examines operating systems and networks; it looks at object oriented programming using Java, web development, and the effectiveness of systems in organisations. Year 2: In addition to core computer science modules, studies concentrate on multimedia technology and interactive media; students gain a solid understanding of the hardware and software aspects of capturing, storing and manipulating sound and images in a digital form; they explore the techniques involved in producing their own creative digital media; digital image editing and manipulation, together with video editing and distribution are also examined. Year 3: Industrial placement. Final year: An in depth look at advanced aspects of image and sound programming, as well as multimedia communication; students undertake an individual project investigating an application of multimedia technology.
