Drama at Winchester is focused on practice; these practices include performance and production skills, in particular text-based approaches, physical and devised theatres, and applied and community drama; each of the practices is explored through various types of theory; theatre histories, performance methods, and different perspectives of culture and society; in film and cinema technologies students engage with a range of areas and skills as well as the acquisition of practical skills in film technologies; while focused around practical areas, it also places itself within an academic understanding of these skills and, as such, offers a range of other skills that are relevant to students, including communication skills (writing and presentation skills), research skills, and the ability to analyse and synthesise a range of data and information.
