Entry requirements

Anyone holding a high school diploma recognized by MGIMO is eligible to apply. Please note that the application procedure differs depending on the applicant’s nationality.

1) Russian nationals must apply in person following the procedure and deadlines described under Section 2 here (in Russian): https://abiturient.mgimo.ru/bakalavriat/sgia

2) Non-Russian nationals must apply by sending to bac@inno.mgimo.ru high-resolution scans of the following documents:

  • Filled electronic application form
  • High school diploma if you already have received it. If not, you will need to send it to us as soon as you receive it from your school.
  • Photo of an applicant (at least 300 dpi).
  • CV / Résumé (no specific template to follow).
  • Motivation letter (personal statement), strictly 800 to 1,200 words
  • Academic and/or professional references (at least two). Please do not collect references yourself. Provide us with the names, positions, and institutional e-mail addresses of your referees, and we shall reach out to them separately. Please advise your referees that MGIMO SGIA will be contacting them soon after you file your application.
  • English language test certificate: International English Language Testing Service / IELTS with a total score of 6.0 and 5.5 in each of the components; and/or Test of English as a Foreign Language / TOEFL with a minimum score of 80 and 20 in each of the four skills.
  • National passport.

Do not send us any original documents or photocopies by regular mail as we shall not be able to return them. Please be informed that the processing of your inquiries usually takes 5 to 15 business days. We will get back to you shortly with any updates regarding the status of your application.

Admission decisions are taken on the rolling basis, so it is a good idea to apply early and not to wait until the deadline. You may send your application materials in batches, but make sure that we receive the final batch before the deadline. If your application is not complete by the deadline and/or submitted after the deadline, we shall not be able to process it.

For progression requirements at the University of Reading, you must achieve an average of 70% in all MGIMO modules and 6.5 IELTS.
