The course allows students to tailor their advanced study and research-preparation to their interests, needs and existing knowledge; all students take the compulsory core course unit: Revising the history of modern Britain; which explores recent historiographical debates (the rise of the working class; the impact of empire on British society and culture; the cultural history of the 1st World War); students then select 2 optional course units from a wide variety of options exploring the history of Britain from the 18th century to the present.
