Level 1: Structured study: semester 1 major modules in studio practice allow for the practical exploration of essential materials and processes; semester 2 studio practice allows for conceptual development and personal expression by testing the knowledge and experience gained during semester 1. Level 2: Negotiated study: programme becomes more student-led; personal research projects in semester 3; semester 4 allows time for re-evaluation and consolidation of work. Level 3: Independent study: students work largely independently; in final semester, student activity is focused by working towards a major public exhibition of work.
