The MRes consists of approximately 40 per cent taught modules and 60 per cent research in collaboration with an industrial partner; students take 3 compulsory modules (40 credits) usually covering: Research skills; management and communication; and design and implementation of experiments; students then select 3 optional modules (30 credits) from a list that includes topics such as: marine production technology; engineering mathematics; optimal marine design; process control systems; sustainable processing energy and materials technology; pollution monitoring; business and environmental management; energy management; contaminated land; and foundation of environmental law and policy. Students also undertake a collaborative research project with an industrial partner (110 credits).
