Studying
There are three academic terms in each academic year and the main dates are arranged as following:
| What |
When |
| Aston Welcome Week |
last week of September |
| First Term |
beginning of October to mid of December |
| Second Term |
beginning of January to end of March |
| Third Term |
mid of April till beginning of June |
The in-class time for a degree programme varies depending on the subject being studied. All programmes at Aston University require the student to carry out independent learning. Formal contact (such as lectures and seminars,) is only part of the teaching and learning structure. You will be expected to study independently in addition to timetabled teaching, (usually for twice as long as they spend in class).
