This course is designed for international students wishing to gain a degree as a preliminary to gaining a teaching qualification in their own country, or as a means of enhancing their subject knowledge; students who have successfully completed a relevant Honours degree are required to study for 2 semesters to achieve an Honours degree; students who have successfully completed a relevant Pass degree are required to study for 3 semesters in order to achieve an Honours degree; students who have successfully completed a relevant Higher National Diploma (HND) are required to study for 3 Semesters to achieve a Honours degree; students who have successfully completed at least 1 year in Higher Education in a design and technology related area are required to study for2 years to achieve an Honours Degree; a 3 year full-time degree programme is available for any intending student who has no Higher Education experience; the programme builds upon the student’s entry qualifications and extends and develops their design and technology knowledge that they have already achieved; the student gains the necessary conceptual, technological (electronic and computer control), graphical, design and resistant materials expertise that enable them to become a successful teacher of design and technology; the student does not undertake teaching practice as it is not the purpose of this programme, neither does the student obtain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS); however, after successful completion of the degree the student can apply to take a 1 year Professional Certificate in Education (PGCE) or a Higher Degree at the University or by distance learning.
