Marine geoscientists provide key information in the search for marine resources (egg oil, gas, aggregates, metallic mineral deposits), and also apply their knowledge and understanding to the study of past climate changes and how global warming will affect sea level and coastal erosion; in this latter field, an understanding of coastal dynamics and the transport of sediments is essential, particularly when some of these are removed for marine aggregates.
